SWEET MARIE IS SENT TO PRISON
New York, May 6. "Sweet Marie" Ganz, the "Joan of
Arc" of the New York I. W. W.'s, who visited the office of John D.
Rockefeller, Jr., at No. 26 Broadway and left, word that unless he consented to
arbitrate and 'stop the murder in the Colorado strike zone ' she would
"shoot him down like a dog, and who repeatedly threatened him with bodily
harm, was sentenced today to serve sixty days in the workhouse on Blackwell's
island She was charged with disorderly conduct.
"I believe the defendant is the tool of older persons with vicious
tendencies." Magistrate Murphy said in pronouncing sentence "She has
tried to be a heroine. Were she a leader I would sentence her to six months in
the workhouse as the extreme penalty"
Miss Ganz’s attorney said he would appeal.
