"SWEET MARIE'S" DEMAND ON BEHALF OF N.Y. POOR.

NEW YORK, Feb. 20.--"You can't expect us to keep quiet and starve to death" protested Marie Ganz leader of today's food riot when placed under arrest for disorderly conduct. "All we want is existence. We don't want to rob and plunder. But what are we going to do? It isn't natural for prices to jump like that, the mayor had ought to get the wholesalers together an look into the reasons for those prices."

Long known as a leader in social strife today marked the first public appearance of "Sweet Marie" Ganz in some time . It was this little woman who threatened the life of John D. Rockefeller, Jr., at the time of the Colorado coal strikes. She has served time at Blackwell's Island and has been prominent in many social demonstrations.
